Contemporary vocalist and pianist Kelly Read has been impressing audiences throughout Australia with her trademark sultry, soulful performance style for the past 15 years.
Initially establishing her skills in classical music, Kelly was accepted into the prestigious contemporary music program at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) in 2000, where she studied under industry leaders and professionals such as vocalist Annie Neil, Australian Opera diva Janice Taylor‑Warne and renowned Australian composer and arranger Graham Lyall. She has since furthered her studies in pop/rock keyboard, vocals and songwriting at the Berklee School of music in Massachusetts.
A versatile performer who has worked alongside some of Perth’s finest musicians, Kelly has covered everything, from fronting six‑piece bands Soul Corporation and Hot Chilli to performing in more intimate, solo, duo and classical trio settings. Her outstanding performance skills saw her chosen to perform the national anthem during the Western Australian Football League grand final at Subiaco Oval. She has held long‑term residencies at high‑profile venues such as the Subiaco Hotel, the Universal Bar, Crown Casino, Rendezvous Hotel and Pullman Resort Bunker Bay in Dunsborough. She has recently completed a contract onboard the Celebrity Ship ‘Infinity’ travelling through Alaska and Central America.
Her repertoire is always evolving and covers a diverse range of musical genres from cool stylish jazz to hip acoustic country, blues, pop and rock classics.
Kelly is currently working on an original recording project. She is available for recordings, live performances, private functions and weddings.
